I Hope That You'll Say No

Music Lyrics

I Hope That You'll Say No

Lyrics:

He was a kid I knew

He was that boy next door that I always liked to talk to

We played soccer in his backyard

Till his mama said no more

But he couldn’t say no more

Who knew?

Who knew?

This is what it’d come to

I love someone

Who threw his life away

Covered in smoke

Look where he’s at today

He used to make me proud

But now he’s six feet underground

If only he said no

I hope that you’ll say no

Sometimes I need to hear his voice

I just wish he could’ve made a better choice

But red eyes lose sight

In the dead of night

Who knew?

Who knew?

This is what it’d come to

I loved someone

Who threw his life away

Covered in smoke

Look where he’s at today

He use to make his mama proud

But now he’s six feet underground

If only he said no

I hope that you’ll say no

Guitar Solo

Pale skin

Dead glares

His shaking hand I used to hold

It got tough

But he didn’t try hard enough

If only he said no

I hope that you’ll say no

If only he said no

I hope that you’ll say no

Nicole has been a singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist since she was 8 years old.  She was inspired to enter the contest after learning of substance abuse-related tragedies in her community.  She aspires to become a doctor and wants to encourage others to have the courage to say no to drugs and alcohol.  Although she realizes that it can sometimes be a difficult choice to make as a teen, she “hopes that you’ll say no.”
