New Jersey Shout Down Drugs 2012 winners went on the road June 8 to perform at the annual HISPA Youth Conference held at Princeton University. The Monmouth County duo, “The Starving Artists”, made up of Kevin Karol and Avery Peterson, performed their winning song, “You Got High;” and Kishawn Jack, from Hudson County, performed his winning song, “Drug Free.” The conference theme was, “Take Action! Achieve Your Dreams,” and was attended by approximately 150 New Jersey eighth grade students.

Three of the NJSDD 2011 Winners performed at the Annual NJ Elks Youth Peer Leadership Conference at the Ocean Place Resort in Long Branch on 2/4/2012. Aryan Mahyar, and the duo, Middletwo, consisting of Johnny Costa and Tyler Spiegeland, performed their original winning songs to approximately 800 high school peer leaders. The conference is intended to raise awareness about the risks and consequences of substance abuse while motivating students to strive for their goals.
