Bergen County Teen To Perform In NJ Drug Prevention Competition

A Bergen County teenager's song has earned her a spot in an annual drug prevention concert.

Maria Chung is one of 18 finalists who will perform at the 14th annual New Jersey Shout Down Drugs Prevention Concert Friday. The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey is sponsoring the concert.

Chung, of Old Tappan, is a junior at Northern Valley Regional High School. She wrote the song "You Could Have Done Better."

"You could have done better
Love the ones who truly love
Now that she's up in the sky it's too late to tell her you were wrong
She used to cry on her bed
Oh you would never know"

Chung and the other finalists will compete for $10,000 in music contracts.

The public can listen to and vote for Chung's song online until Thursday. Voting results will be factored into the finalists' scores on the night of the concert.
