PDFNJ’s Shout Down Drugs Program Recognized with National Award
CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey (PDFNJ) earned national acclaim for its New Jersey Shout Down Drugs high school music competition last week at the National Association of Government Communicators’ (NAGC) 2018 Blue Pencil & Gold Screen Awards.
At the awards ceremony held in Cape Coral, Fla., the NAGC presented PDFNJ with an Award of Excellence in the K-12 Educational Programs category for Shout Down Drugs, which encourages high school students from throughout New Jersey to create and perform original songs with a peer-to-peer substance use prevention message.
“The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey is honored to receive this prestigious award from the National Association of Government Communicators,” said PDFNJ Executive Director Angelo Valente. “For 14 years, New Jersey Shout Down Drugs has made a positive impact on New Jersey high school students and has challenged some of the state’s most talented musicians to use their abilities to spread positive messages on living a healthy and substance-free lifestyle.”
Winners of the Shout Down Drugs competition perform at events statewide throughout the following year to help continue spreading their positive messages. For more information on the program, visit www.shoutdowndrugs.com.
